Sligo

Sligo is a county in northwest Ireland, with ancient sites, spectacular landscapes and rolling waves.

With its lakes, mountains, rivers & beautiful forests, it’s great for nature lovers & wildlife enthusiasts alike. Sligo has so much to offer people, from its fun festivals to the beautiful beach at Rosses Point, which is a beautiful seaside village in County Sligo.

If you surf then you may wish to head to Strandhill, it’s an area of great beauty that sits by the Atlantic Ocean, it is located just a few miles west of Sligo but is well known for being a top surfing destination with magnificent waves that attract suffers worldwide.

You may wish to visit the Yeats Memorial Building, which is where William Butler Yeats lived, the national poet of Ireland, from 1865 to 1939. You will find many other historic things to see such as Sligo Abbey, Sligo County Museum, Knocknarea, Carrowkeel, Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery, Aughris Cliff walk & many more. If you are a real hiker then a walk up Benbulben Mountain would be for you.

You will find two shopping centres in Sligo, Quayside & Johnston Court, both of them offering a wide range of national stores. The side streets also offer a wide choice of shops, & also many eating establishments from cafĂ©’s, restaurants & pubs. If you enjoy the theatre then you may wish to visit Hawk’s Well Theatre which is a performing arts centre that offers the best of music, comedy & culture for all ages.
