Glasgow

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and is located in the west central lowlands.

It’s a vibrant, exciting, fashionable city that attracts more and more tourists every year. The city boasts around 20 museums and galleries throughout its streets, some of the most popular being the Burrell Collection, the Kelvingrove Museum, the Museum of Religion, the Gallery of Modern Art and the Lighthouse. The city is known for its vibrant theatre scene and some of the most amazing architecture that you will ever see. Make sure to take a trip to the Botanic Gardens and Kibble Palace, you will find the gardens at the top of Byres road in the west end of Glasgow. The Palace itself is a huge greenhouse that houses most of the Botanic collection.

Glasgow being Scotland’s largest city has everything a shopper can dream of from high street stores, smaller boutiques, department stores and also specialty shops. The most popular places to shop have to be Buchanan Street, Argyle Street, and Sauchiehall Street. You might also find Argyll Arcade interesting it’s one of Britain’s oldest shopping arcades with 32 Jewellery shops. The newest and most popular shopping centre is Buchanan Galleries which has over 80 well known stores, like H&M, Mango, and Next. You will also be able to stop off for a rest in one of its wide choice of cafes.
The city holds a number of festivals every year from film to comedy, some of the most popular being Celtic Connections, Glasgow film festival and Glasgow Comedy festival. When it comes to entertainment Glasgow really does have everything. If you like the theatre then you can take pick from a huge list, some of the most popular being the Theatre Royal, Kings Theatre, Pavilion Theatre and lets not forget the famous Glasgow Royal Concert Hall. If you enjoy films then Glasgow is host to three huge cinemas, Cineworld, the Glasgow Film Theatre, and the Grosvenor Cinema, so whatever your taste you are sure to find something to watch.
When it comes to nightlife Glasgow has it all, from pubs, nightclubs, wine bars, cocktail bars, you name it Glasgow has it. If you are looking for lively clubs the Sauchiehall Street is good on a Friday and Saturday night. If you are looking for a quite night then head to Bath Street, here you will find a nice relaxing quite traditional pub.  Glasgow also boasts lots of live music venues such as King Tuts, the 13^thNote and the Queen Margaret, were you will discover great new acts. If what you want is established acts then try heading to Hampden Park and the Carling Academy because here you will find all the big names in music.
