Edinburgh

Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital has to be one of the most spectacular cities in Europe.

It’s traditional but lively city centre (the Royal Mile) runs parallel to the modern and vibrant core of the city, were you will find Princess Street. Edinburgh attracts well over one million visitors a year. With its medieval alleyways, great architecture, modern amenities, bars, nightclubs, café’s, shops, and amazing scenery, its hardly surprising its one of Europe’s most popular cities to visit.

Edinburgh Castle

Two of Edinburgh’s main attractions are without a doubt Edinburgh Castle, which is sited on the top of an extinct volcano with stunning views across the city and also Arthur’s Seat which is the main peak of a group of beautiful hills that form most of Holyrood Park. I would have to say both of those are a must whilst visiting Edinburgh.

Year round festivals such as Edinburgh Festival itself bring a unique energy to the city as everyone is brought alive with street theatre, international artists, live music and inspiring exhibitions. Nights out in Edinburgh, start early and finish late; it’s a true dusk till dawn city. Edinburgh like any other capital provides for all tastes, from traditional pubs, clubs to more up market bars. You may wish to take a trip to the West End which is the cradle of theatre and music, with the legendary and innovative Traverse theatre, as well as the Royal Lyceum Theatre, and, if you wish to see a concert then try, the classic Usher Hall.

If you wish to do some shopping whilst visiting Edinburgh then you will find the capital caters for every taste. This ranges from upmarket designer stores such as Harvey Nichols and Jenners, to the usual range of high street department stores, like Marks & Spencer and Next. You will find outlets that sell pretty much anything you need. You will find wonderful independent boutiques to be discovered also, stocking luxurious local and international brands.
