Manchester

Manchester is England’s second largest city and has earned a reputation as being revolutionary, innovative and entrepreneurial.

The city is known for its histories of industry, music and also for having huge sporting connections. Manchester is becoming more and more a city where people are choosing to settle. It’s seen by many as young, vibrant and cutting edge city, where there is always something happening.

Manchester Velodrome

The city is well known for its two football teams Manchester City and Manchester United but also plays host to a wide variety of sporting activities. In 2002 Manchester hosted the Commonwealth games which played a significant part in securing the 2012 Olympic game’s for the city of London. The Velodrome and the City of Manchester Stadium were both centrepieces in the Commonwealth games and the 2012 Olympics.
When it comes to shopping you will find Manchester has it all. With Market Street the Arndale Centre, Northern Quarter, King’s Street, Cross Street, Exchange Square and the Trafford centre. You are sure to find what you are looking for. The Trafford centre is the largest shopping centre in the UK and has everything you need under one roof. It boasts hundreds of high street shops and if you need to take time away and get a bite to eat, you will be able to take your pick of restaurants, bars and cafes in the wonderful luxuriant food hall.

If you are interested in history then in 2010 The People’s Museum reopened which is dedicated to telling a 200 year tale of British democracy. Another popular museum to visit in Manchester is the Museum of Science and Industry, which is a large museum devoted to the development of Science, Technology and Industry with emphasis on the city’s achievements in these fields. This museum is truly for everyone. Kids, big and small will be fascinated with the hands on exhibitions.

Manchester’s nightlife is electric, with the Northern Quarter giving you the Indie and Soul mix, the Tiger Tiger at the Printworks giving you pop house and disco, when it comes to nights out Manchester has it all. With hundreds of pubs and nightclubs, you are sure to find the right one for you. If the clubbing scene isn’t your thing then why not book tickets at the MEN Arena and see a live event. Maybe you wish to visit The Palace Theatre and Opera House which are the two main venues for the big budget shows. Les Miserables, South Pacific and Riverdance have all graced the stage in the past.
