Montpellier

Montpellier is located in Southern France and is the capital of the Languedoc Roussillion region.

If you like boutiques, designer clothing, wine bars, great music then Montpellier is the place for you. The sun, sea, architecture, culture, local markets, parks, gardens; local beaches are all things that attract people to Montepellier. In 2009 public stages and free open shows were organized by the public council so people can now experience various music shows/gigs, street performers and also outdoor cinema projections throughout the year.
One of the most important Museums in France (Fabre Museum) is in Montepellier and definitely worth seeing. You will find many great museums and art galleries all over the city. If you head to the old town then La Galerie de l’Écusson is a real treat, it presents original engravings and bronze statues from some great contemporary artists. Another great place to explore would have to be the Zoo of Lunaret, which is the second largest zoo in France. The zoo contains the largest tropical greenhouse in France which gives you the chance to cross a real forest and pass beneath a waterfall and discover piranhas, caimans, monkeys, anacondas, spiders, bats and tropical birds. Other great places to explore are the historical old town centre, the Odysseum and the famous Jardin des Plantes.

Fabre Museum Montpellier

The Odysseum is a leisure and shopping complex with hundred’s of shops, leisure activities and theme restaurants. It’s definitely fun for all the family. Montpellier draws shoppers along its medieval streets with its traditional, themed and local markets. The city has a number of centrally located shopping areas, each with its own particular attraction. One of the most popular places to shop is the Polygone shopping centre which is home to a number of well known French chainstores, department stores and Galleries Lafayettes it certainly meets most daily needs of Montpellier visitors.

The city boasts a vast array of lively bars, café’s bistro’s and restaurants. It’s one of the biggest and more dynamic student cities in France. It is therefore easy to find great clubs offering discounts. There are lots of cosy and charming wine bars, such as L’Atelier, which is open all day long. Many of the bars and clubs are located around Place Jean Jaures. Some of the well known clubs are Mix Koffee, Rockstore, La Pleine Lune, Panama Café, Cargo and Café Joseph. If you love beer then make sure to try out Couleurs de Bieres because it boasts 600 different beers, collected from all over the world. If you are after French music then Sound Station is a great club and open most nights.
